Enterprises using the Internet in the past.


• In 1998, KPMG provides consulting services, conducted a survey
to know the extent of Internet use for business and assess the level of Internet use for business
ecommerce and identify the benefits and concerns of the organization when they participate in the Internet.
One of the main results of this survey are as follows:
• More than two thirds of respondents indicated that they use the Internet primarily to share information through a
external websites.
• Half of the respondents said they use the Internet to share information internally with its employees.
• Only 23% use the Internet for commercial transactions.
• Only 5% of electronic payment acceptance and less than 30% want to be able to accept electronic payment
for electronic goods and services.
• The main reason for opening a website in order to build the sub-channel marketing, product sales and reduced
reduce costs.
• Nearly 90% of respondents said that a lack of security is the major barrier to e-commerce. about
80% for that matter the cost, the lack of rules and business models.
• Nearly 59% have policies to deal with security risks on the Internet.
• Approximately 31% use encryption technology, 17% intend to apply this technique.
• Approximately 23% did not take measures to protect their systems.
